Dubai: Charley Hull has admitted to picking up winning tips from Shanshan Feng, something that could come in useful if she is to break the dominance of the Chinese at this week’s Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, which starts on Wednesday.

“I actually learnt something off Shanshan a few weeks back,” she said of the record three-time Dubai winner and defending champion. “Because when she won in Japan, she said she doesn’t look at scoreboards on the way around.

“So I didn’t look at scoreboards last week in America at the CME event and I won, so hopefully I can do it again this week,”

That victory hasn’t given Hull undue confidence coming into this event, however.

“To get the win feels really good and I feel dead confident, but at the end of the day I didn’t think about it for too long afterwards because I didn’t want to be on a high for too long.

“I was literally on a high just for the flight back and then I was like, ‘OK, I need to get back to work.”

Having secured the 2013 Rookie of the Year and 2014 Order of Merit with strong finishes at this Ladies European Tour season-ending event, the Englishwoman now wants to win it outright, but she will have to overcome Shanshan to do so.

“I feel pretty good with my game at the moment. So, I will hopefully try to win here because I’ve never actually won the tournament and it would be pretty cool to finish the season on a high.

“I’ve played a lot with Shanshan and I’ve enjoyed playing with her. But I’m just going to concentrate on my own game. I would like to win but at the end of the day I want to concentrate on hitting one shot at a time and getting four good rounds together.”
