Dubai: Daniel Hendry capped a superb season by winning the Emirates Golf Federation's Junior Order of Merit for Boys in both gross and net divisions while Shloka Desai reigned supreme in the junior girls division.
Daniel, the Emirates Golf Club prodigy, rode on an impressive victory at the Emirates Junior Open — the final event on the Order of Merit schedule — to take his tally to 124 points, beating his nearest challengers and fellow club members Tom Green (111.5) and Philip Urasch (92) in style.
Daniel, who plays off a plus-two handicap, shot a solid gross 75 at the Majlis course to walk away with the title in the season-ending event, a good two strokes ahead of Young Jae Kim of Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and Tom Green, who both returned an identical gross 77.
It was Daniel's first outright victory in the five Order of Merit events during which he consistently raked in top-five finishes, and ended the season in great fashion by adding the net Order of Merit to his rich cache of achievements.
Daniel finished with 83.5 points in the net division, beating Harley Knight (78.5) to second place.
Tom Green took the third place with 74.5 points in the season-long Order of Merit.
Like Daniel, Shloka Desai also ended her campaign in the Junior Order of Merit for Girls in style by winning the Emirates Junior Open.
The Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club star carded a net 75 to finish on top and took her Order of Merit tally to 119 points, well ahead of Diya Chopra who finished second with 113 points while Boushra Dalile (EGF) settled for third with 74 points.
