Dubai: Aziz Al Hakim and Jamal Bin Marghoob took the windy conditions in their stride to win the Captains Day event at the Dubai Creek & Yacht Golf Club last Friday.

Tobias Parkin and Bayhaan Lakdawala also showed great teamwork and combined well to make a total of 40 points, which earned them the runners-up spot. Finishing just one point behind them was the team of David Gowans and Joy Lirio, whose 39 points saw them clinch third place.

The Nearest the Pin prizes on the front nine went to Kristi Sealey and Tauseef Khan for their fantastic efforts on holes five and eight whilst on the back nine, Vannessa North-Panting, next year’s lady captain, and Nitin Kripalani were awarded for their efforts on holes 14 and 16. Both of the club’s captains were on stage to present the cheque for the money raised for the junior colleague fund during 2015.

The colleague fund initiative was started four years ago by then-club captain Joseph Andrade to recognise the fantastic job that all of the junior colleagues do at the club on a daily basis. This year, thanks to many successful events and kind donations, a staggering Dh186,000 was raised for this fund and captains Joeseph Ghossub and Harini White happily presented this to junior colleagues from various club departments.

The Director of Golf Operations, Stephen Hubner, was on hand to present both 2015 captains Ghossub and White with a parting gift for all their hard work during their terms as captains. After presenting the pair, Hubner said, “Firstly, I would like to say a huge thank you on behalf of us all here at the club to both of our captains for all of their hard work and efforts throughout the past year.

“It’s clear to see from the attendance here tonight that you both have had a hugely positive impact during your times as captains and for that we are all grateful. I would also like to wish the best of luck to our 2016 captains, Patrick Morrow and Vanessa North-Panting.”
