Dubai: The Gulf News and Carpetland teams recorded impressive victories in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic Pro Am event at the Emirates Golf Club yesterday.

Spearheaded by 1997 "Classic champion" Richard Green, the Gulf News team comprising Ashok Bakshi, Asim Arshad and Fred Watts, carded a fantastic score of under 20 to beat their nearest challengers by a good two shots.

The Omega team, led by India's Jeev Milkha Singh, finished second, over Emirates NBD on a countback.
