Dubai: Young UAE nationals will have the opportunity to pursue golf as one of their subjects in school, should the Ministry of Education accept a proposal from the UAE Golf Association.

"This scheme should come into force after another year and a half," stated Mohammad Bu Amim, Vice Chairman of Golf in Dubai (GiD). The scheme involves physical education teachers in UAE schools given a basic course in golf so that they can pass on the rudiments of the game on to their students.

"The promising students will be given a chance to further a career in golf by being given a grant and even a scholarship to study golf abroad," said Bu Amim, adding that aanother reason for this move is the falling levels of tutoring adopted in the UAE.
