Dubai: Nick Tarratt, director of the European Tour’s Dubai office, has hinted at a possible bid to host a full-house of European Tour season-ending events in the emirate.

Dubai already hosts year-enders to the European Tour, Ladies European Tour and the European Challenge Tour but now there’s hope of completing a quadruple by staging the climax to the Senior Tour.

“There’s one missing from the portfolio,” he said. “A Senior Tour finale would complete the set. This is high in my priority and I would be disappointed if by this time next year we either hadn’t already held it or told you when it is.”

American business magnate Donald Trump recently said he saw no reason why his new Dubai course, The Trump International, part of the Akoya by Damac development, couldn’t one-day host the Ryder Cup — the biennial team contest between Europe and America. But when asked if Dubai had the authority to bid for the event, given it was outside the traditional host regions, Tarratt played coy.

“More tournaments and the right profile tournaments are certainly on our agenda,” he added. “And having three season-ending events — already — in Dubai is a real fillip for the region.”

But as to whether Dubai had the authority to bid for the Ryder Cup, Tarratt replied: “That question is above my paid limits, you will have to ask European Tour CEO George O’Grady.”
