Abu Dhabi: Injured Englishman Paul Casey, who has been forced to withdraw from this month's Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, has been wished a speedy recovery by organisers Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA).

Casey, a two-time Abu Dhabi winner, suffered a dislocated right shoulder while snowboarding during his winter break, meaning he will miss the first two months of the season.

The freak injury has ended Casey's goal of drawing level with traditional Abu Dhabi rival and defending champion Martin Kaymer on three National Course wins when the tournament returns to Abu Dhabi Golf Club from January 26 to 29.

A great friend

"We are devastated for Paul and wish him a speedy recovery," Faisal Al Shaikh, Head of Events Division, ADTA, said. "He is a great friend of the Authority and we know from previous years just how much Paul loves playing in Abu Dhabi and on the National Course.

"It's no secret that the championship will have a new home next year and we look forward to seeing Paul back here in 2013 for a fresh tilt at the title in new surroundings.

"Paul is a fantastic ambassador for golf and a very popular player with regional golf fans. I'm sure he'll be eager to put this disappointment behind him and use it as extra incentive to get back to top form and into the hunt for a Ryder Cup spot — we wish him all the best."
