Dubai: ‘golf in DUBAi,’ the promoters and organisers of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, has announced that Emirates NBD has renewed its sponsorship agreement for the forthcoming golf events.

The renewal of partnership agreement further demonstrates the bank’s commitment to the development of golf in the UAE and the wider region.

Driven by ‘Passion for Golf,’ the extension of the long-standing association will see the bank continue as co-sponsor, Official Bank and Caddy Bib Sponsor of the two premier golf tournaments that have been a catalyst for putting the city on the world sporting map, while promoting the game across the region.

Preparations are in full swing for the forthcoming Omega Ladies Masters to be held at Emirates Golf Club from December 7 to 13 where Thailand’s Pornanong Phatlum will defend her title in a field that includes England’s all-time great Laura Davies, rising star Charley Hull, also of England, and 2012 champion Shanshan Feng of China.

“Golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the region and we are thrilled to be sponsoring yet again the two important events in the calendar of golf. Looking forward, we are confident that our continued association with these events will result in further development of this sport, so that the region’s young talent can play in a competitive environment,” said Shayne Nelson, Group CEO, Emirates NBD.

“Traditionally, the game of golf is associated with decision-makers and senior level executives, making it an important networking platform for many of our premium clients. As such, we will be organising a series of activities, especially, through our extensive social media network to highlight our participation at the season-ending Ladies European Tour event,” Nelson added.

Mohammad Juma Bu Ameen, vice-chairman and CEO, golf in DUBAi, said: “We are, indeed, delighted to have Emirates NBD on board and share its common goal of further cementing the UAE’s position as a key player in the world’s golfing community.

“The bank has played a significant part in the national economy while supporting the fiscal and social development of the UAE. Their commitment to supporting and developing professional and grass roots level initiatives in sport, culture and community, primarily on a regional platform are equally well acclaimed,” he added.

The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters and the Omega Dubai Desert Classic are backed by Omega as the title sponsor and Emirates Global Aluminium PJSC as sponsor. The co-sponsors are CNN, Drydocks World and Maritime World, Emirates NBD, Gulf News, Jebel Ali Resorts and Hotels, Mercedes and wasl, while Dubai Duty Free, Neocasa Interiors and Motivate Publishing are the Patrons in golf in DUBAi’s drive to showcase the emirate’s vibrant golfing scene to a worldwide audience.
