Phelim Dunleavy grasped the overall winners' title with an impressive score of 42 points

Dubai: Phelim Dunleavy grasped the overall winners' title with an impressive score of 42 points on a countback to clinch the Mark Fahy Memorial Golf Day sponsored by Dubai Duty Free at Al Badia Golf Club last weekend. Sean Dalphin claimed the best gross title with 73.
A very close battle ensued in the men's division as three of the finest participants' best performances placed them in the highest rankings. Niall Meany with 42 points came in first place as he surpassed challenges from Paul Byrne and Francisco Giles who finished at 41 points and 40 points, respectively.
The ladies made an impressive mark in their division with Maura Duggan in first place with 31 points. She beat Louise Doyle who scored 27 points on a countback.
Titles
Duggan took more titles in the on-course competitions as she won the nearest to the pin on hole 7 and the longest drive on a challenging hole 9.
Other on-course competition winners were Graham Davies for nearest the pin on hole 11 and Dalphin with a 213-yard drive on hole 16.
A total of 84 players gave their best in the annual tournament that followed an individual stableford format with full handicap allowance.
