Dubai: Tiger Woods’ niece Cheyenne on Thursday replicated her uncle’s iconic tee shot off the helicopter pad of the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai on Thursday to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of his promotional stunt.

Cheyenne, 24, is in Dubai for the Ladies European Tour season-ending Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, where she was five under par for the tournament after rounds of 70 and 69 on the first two days.

Speaking after the photoshoot on top of the world’s only seven star hotel, Cheyenne sounded thrilled to be following in her uncle’s footsteps.

“I was 14 years old with no idea what I was doing, in middle school [when Tiger did the original shoot],” she said. “To be here now, it’s a little surreal to know that Tiger was here 10 years ago in the same spot. It’s beautiful. I’m really pleased to be here.

“It’s even more unbelievable than I thought it would be. You hear stories and see pictures online and, once you’re here in person, it’s amazing — the views, the city and how high we are.

“Dubai is the one place that everyone wants to go to. I don’t know, it’s almost like a fantasy to come here. The photos that you see online and the views, the palm island and the hotels. It’s one of the things that was on my bucket list, to come to Dubai. When they had the event here I had to come and see it for myself.

“I’m definitely going to come back here. It’s hard to fit everything into one week, so hopefully when I come back I’ll have a list of things planned and do everything possible. I’d love to do skydiving and skiing. There’s so much to do. Hopefully I’ll be back to do it.”

At the half-way stage in the Dubai Ladies Masters, Cheyenne is six strokes behind tournament leader Shanshan Feng.

“She’s obviously playing very well and I’m playing the best that I can,” she said of Shanshan, who won here in 2012 with a record score of 21 under par. “I will do everything I can to try and keep up with the pace, but I’m not going to try and play outside of myself or do anything crazy because that’s when bad things happen.”
