Dubai: Spanish golfer Rafael Cabrera-Bello signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with hospitality firm JA Resorts & Hotels last week.

As part of the deal the 31-year-old will don the brand on his tournament clothing and appear in marketing and promotional campaigns as well as making appearances at the company’s properties.

Cabrera-Bello, who is ranked 33rd in the world and second in Europe after his third-place finish at the World Golf Championships - Dell Match Play in Austin, Texas, last month - earning him a place at this weekend’s Masters - said Dubai and JA Resorts & Hotels was close to his heart.

“The biggest win of my career was at the 2012 Dubai Desert Classic and I was runner up at the event this year,” he said. “I have an extremely fond attachment to both the city and JA Resorts & Hotels as the tournament’s official co-sponsor. I’m honoured to be part of the JA family and excited to build my collaboration with the brand.”

JA Resorts & Hotels have sponsored the Dubai Desert Classic for the past 12 years and their flagship property, the Jebel Ali Golf Resort, has previously hosted a challenge match ahead of the Classic.

JA Resorts & Hotels Chief Operating Officer, David Thomson, said: “We are extremely pleased to begin our collaboration with Rafa, he is a very a gifted sportsman with huge potential. His dedication and enthusiasm for the sport match our own excitement. We aim to foster new brand relationships and associations with communities across the globe through our sponsorship; we look forward to a prosperous association ahead.”
