Dubai: Stefan Bode (ARGC) scored 40 Stableford points to win the recent second round of the TNT Amateur Order of Merit Golf Series at Arabian Ranches Golf Club.
The card of Bode (handicap, 24) contained nines of 18 and 22 points in the shotgun start format, having started on hole 18. Highlights included three gross pars on holes six, 13 and 14 in a round that is certain to attract the attention of the local handicap authorities. The format of each event is individual Stableford with full handicap allowance with play at the 6,807 yards par 72 Blue Tee Course.
Unlucky to lose
Others of note included runner-up, Markus Hacker (17) (UGA), also on 40 points, unluckily losing on a back nine countback, and Francisco Giles (6) (DCGYC) in third place with 38 points in the equivalent of a gross 76.
The TNT Amateur Order of Merit Golf Series is an eight-event program with the leading 20 players and ties at the end of the Series qualifying for a TNT Amateur Order of Merit Golf Series Grand Final in May 2008.
