Six lucky golfers played their way to a 10-day trip to Mauritius, to stay at the luxurious Belle Mare Plage, The Resort and play in the Mauritius Open Pro-Am in December after they won the Belle Mare Plage Grand Final, sponsored by Hotel Constance, at the Emirates Golf Club (EGC) yesterday.

As many as 51 golfers from the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain teed off with a shotgun start yesterday afternoon after they had qualified for the grand final from their respective clubs.

The gents played in two divisions and Rami Belaid ran out winner of the Best Gross prize in 'A' Division with a scintillating 77.

The 17-year-old, one-handicapper from Abu Dhabi Golf Club by Sheraton (ADGCS), recorded five 3s on a steady card to win by three clear shots.

Net winner in the Division was Wim Boogaerts from The Montgomerie with a solid 71. The 'B' Division gross winner was David Smith from the EGC with an 87 that included an ugly triple-bogey 8 on the 13th.

Ravi Patel from The Montgomerie collected the net prize with his 71.

The Ladies Division saw Mieko Coombs (Emirates Golf Club), with an 85, win best gross while Henny Bowler from the Doha Golf Club secured best net with 75, on a countback from Birthe Majker from DCGYC.

The six will travel to Mauritius, courtesy Emirates Airline, who co-sponsor the series with Burberry Golf, A&E, ABN Amro and Dubai Golf Holidays & Events.
