Dubai: Bayer Khan emerged overall champion of the Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup, the 23rd round of which was played at Al Badia Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, respectively.

Commenting on the tournament, Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice-Chairman of Dubai Duty Free, said: “The 23rd running of the Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup represents another milestone for Dubai Duty Free and we thank Al Badia and Dubai Creek for their continuous support. The players enjoyed the atmosphere of friendly competition and the social interaction made it a good meeting place for those involved in the duty free industry.”

Producing superb performances and winning the 23rd edition of the event with a two-day total of 80 stableford points was Bayer Khan. After 36 points on first at Al Badia, Bayer made the most of his home course advantage and produced an outstanding performance of 44 points at Dubai Creek on Day 2, to be crowned the 2015 Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup Champion.

“Having come close in the past, it was a great feeling to play so well this time and seal the win” Khan said. In the Men’s division, it was Paul Cooke who fired two consecutive rounds of 35 points to be crowned the overall local champion with a total of 70 points. Making the trip from England, the overall visitor winner was Mathew Hammond with a solid two-day total of 76 points, thanks to his superb round of 43 points in his final round. Art Miller made 72 points and finished as the overall runner up, just ahead of Graeme Toole who won the overall third place with a two-day total of 70 points.

Moving on to the Ladies Division, Naema Maya prevailed to win the overall local winner with two solid scores — adding up to a total of 64 points for the two days. Defending her title, Nancy Miller secured victory in the overall visitor winner’s category for the second year in a row after two very convincing rounds adding up to a two-day total of 63. A two-day total of 57 from Denise Kennedy saw her pick up the overall runner-up prize after narrowly beating fellow competitor Jacqui Barry by two shots. Jacqui’s memorable performance did, however, earn her the overall third place.

Dickie Pyne also successfully defended his title of overall super senior to ensure a fine total of 65 points over the two days. Dan Kongsted was the overall senior winner with a superb two-day total of 75 points, whilst Richard Newman backed up a superb first day total of 39 points with 31 on second day to finish runner-up in the senior division.
