Duba: Yves Abu Khalid and Pierre Abu Jaoude of Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club logged 38 points to win the December Carpetland Open played at their club course over the weekend. Madhav Nair and Shashi Raghavan were the runners-up with 37 points.

In third place and also winning their spot in the Golden Ticket Grand Final were Dave Gowans and Joy Lirio who also had 37 points but lost in a countback to Nair and Raghavan.

The special on course nearest the pin and longest drive competitions were won by Adonis Nasr and Shahin Khodjasteh.

Eighty-eight players from all over the UAE took part. The top three teams gain a place in the Grand Final of the famous ‘Golden Ticket' which will be played in late January at Yas Links in Abu Dhabi.

The top junior and adult in the ‘Golden Ticket' Grand Final will then qualify to play alongside one of the European Tour's top players in the prestigious Emirates Airline Invitational.

James Bowring, Tournament Director of the Emirates Airline Invitational, joined Carpetland's Shahriar Khodjasteh to present the awards and the special invitations.

"It is wonderful to have Carpetland as a sponsor of this year's event. The ‘Golden Ticket' competition has proved hugely successful and given the normal golfer a chance to rub shoulders with some of the game's elite players," Bowring said.

The next Carpetland Open will take place at Dubai Creek on January 21.
