Just two weeks to go until the 2023 World Amateur Team Championship (WATC) presented by Rolex gets underway at Abu Dhabi Golf Club with both the world number one-ranked male and number one-ranked female both confirming their attendance in Abu Dhabi.

The WATC is being hosted for the first time by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) and co-hosted by Abu Dhabi Sports Council along with Destination Partner, the Department of Culture and Tourism. As the men’s Eisenhower Trophy is scheduled to take place between October 18-21 while the women’s Espirito Santo Trophy takes place for the following week from October 25-28.

The competition brings together the best amateur golfers in the world who have aspirations of collegiate golf or turning professional and with a field is as strong as ever with the confirmation of Christo Lamprecht of South Africa and Ingrid Lindblad of Sweden who are both number one in the World Amateur Golf Rankings for males and females will both be representing their respective countries.

The best two scores from each day’s play constitutes towards the team’s score for each round with the 72-hole total combing to give the nation’s score for the full championship.

As the UAE women's Espirito Santo Trophy team is built with Jamie Camero, Intissar Rich and Lara El Chaib.

Some of the biggest names in golf who participated in the WATC are Annika Sorenstam (SWE) ’90, ’92, Jack Nicklaus (USA) ’60, Colin Montgomerie (GBI) ’84, Sergio Garcia (ESP) ’96, ‘98, Rory McIlroy (IRE) ’06, Tiger Woods (USA) ’94 and Ludvig Åberg (SWE) '22.
