As is tradition in the Ladies Season Opener at Emirates Golf Club, the ladies gathered around the first tee to watch the incoming Lady Captain, Fiona Berry's opening tee shot. As a sign of friendship and respect for the new Lady Captain, the ladies all wore colours representing the Union Jack in honour of Fiona’s home country of Great Britain.
Following the ceremonious events of the first tee with Fiona splitting the fairway with her drive, all 68 ladies headed out onto the Majilis Course in their teams to compete in the fourball scramble event which was the Ladies Season Opener.
Victory via countback in the event was the team of Minkyeong Kim, Hyeong Ja Lee, Yang Sook Jung and Imyoung Ma with a net 55 consisting of 13 net birdies and two net eagles.
On the same score, but a weaker back nine was the team of Christiane Sprunck, Anne Gely-Bouigue, Victoria Anikina and Jayshree Gupta who had to settle for second spot even though they still managed 11 net birdies and three net eagles.
Two shots back in third was the team of Naima Maya, Nonita Chand, Mitsuko Emmerson and Annabel Ayres with a net 57.

Following the golf, the buffet reception and prize presentation was held in Emirates Golf Club's Pavilion. Fiona made a lovely speech complimenting and thanking all the members of the ladies’ club as well as the DG tournament team. The great success of today’s event will hopefully be a sign of things to come heading into the new ladies season.
