Paris: European football’s governing body Uefa has handed Macedonian club Rabotnicki a suspended four-year ban from continental competitions after two of their players tested positive for doping.

The club have also been handed a 30,000-euro (Dh136,818) fine after Milovan Petrovic and Dino Najdoski tested positive for banned substances following their 6-0 defeat to Serie A outfit Lazio in a Europa League play-off tie last season.

The two players have been suspended for one year each.

The team’s doctor Mihajlo Ivanovski and physiotherapist Darko Velcevski have also been “suspended from all activities linked to football for two and three years respectively” continued Uefa’s statement.

Uefa have also requested that global governing body Fifa extend the punishments to a worldwide ban.
