Santiago: New cap Sebastian Toro was the revelation of Chile's 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in a World Cup warm-up on Wednesday that was shaken by an earthquake.

A strong tremor measuring 6.4 centred in southern Peru was felt by the crowd of about 10,000 at the stadium in the northern Chilean city of Iquique, but the match carried on.

Chile was hit badly by an earthquake in February when hundreds of people were killed.

Friendlies arranged for early March had to be cancelled.

Toro, the 20-year-old Colo Colo central defender, sound at the back and impressive going forward, crowned a strong individual showing in a disappointing team performance with Chile's second goal three minutes into the second half.

Coach Marcelo Bielsa's side had taken the lead virtually from the kickoff, midfielder Pedro Morales scoring from the edge of the box in the opening minute.

Toro may have played himself into Bielsa's World Cup plans in the match in which the Argentine coach fielded a team made up almost entirely of home-based players.
