Striker Falcao to attend Dubai sports conference
In-demand Colombia star to be part of panel at annual event later this month
The Atletico Madrid star is expected to be one of the panellists on the final discussion on the second day of the annual conference, which will take place at the new JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Business Bay on December 28-29. Other big names already confirmed to be attending the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) event include Uefa President Michel Platini, Russia coach Fabio Capello and African football legend Abedi Pele.
The 26-year-old Falcao, nicknamed “El Tigre”, has attracted the attention of several top clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City, following his goalscoring exploits for Atletico, Porto and his national team.
“We have always strived to bring the best to Dubai and Falcao is by far the most interesting footballer at this moment with so much interest in him from other clubs,” said Dr Ahmad Saad Al Sharif, Secretary General of the DSC.
“Last year we had Cristiano Ronaldo here and Dubai got an opportunity to see a legend. This year we have several others to captivate the interest of the fans.”
The Dubai International Sports Conference has been one of the main platforms for the sporting industry in the UAE and the Gulf in general for discussing important issues related to football and other sports.
The event is held every year under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of DSC.
