Dubai: Dubai Sports City’s Spanish Soccer School (SSS), the coaching programme overseen by former Real Madrid and Spain defender Michel Salgado, is set for a second-year expansion.

In its inaugural season last year, over 700 children aged six to 16 trained at Dubai Sports City, but now sessions will also be held at Repton School in Dubai.

“We are delighted to welcome Repton School into our football family for the new academic year,” said SSS academy manager Inaki Beni.

“The expansion to Repton is a perfect fit for us because we are tying up with a top-quality school that, like us, has outstanding facilities, and it gives us the opportunity to work with even more children in this coming year.”

Last year, SSS made headlines when one of their players — US-born French-Moroccan Souphiane Ourzik, aged nine — signed for French Ligue 1 side Nantes.

“This is the perfect illustration that we are getting things right,” said Beni. “Our coaching team has the skills and expertise to take children as far as they are capable of going, and we cannot wait for the new term to start, especially with the exciting new expansion to Repton on top of what we offer at Dubai Sports City.”
