Rome: Italian forward Giuseppe Rossi, a former striker for Spain’s Villarreal, Levante and Celta Vigo, was presented as a new signing for Serie A side Genoa.

The 30-year-old American-born player’s contract runs until June of next year.

The forward said he felt in excellent physical condition seven-and-a-half months after undergoing knee surgery and was training well.

Rossi had been available since July, when Celta Vigo did not renew his contract.

He signed with Genoa after undergoing medical tests to assess whether he had recovered fully from an injury sustained in April.

It remains unclear when he will make his first appearance, although Rossi said he hoped he could take the field for Genoa’s Serie A match on December 17 against Fiorentina, another of his former teams.
