Dubai: Laurent Banide’s Al Wasl have confirmed the signing of Senegalese striker Andre Senghor on a one-year loan deal from Bani Yas.

The 2010/11 Arabian Gulf League top scorer (18 goals) passed his medical on Tuesday night and will sign his contract on Wednesday before flying to Germany where his new teammates are in preseason training.

Senghor, 27, formerly of Diaraf, Al Ain, Al Karamah and Raja Casablanca, completes Al Wasl’s foreign quota for the forthcoming season. He joins retained Argentinian midfielder Mariano Donda who is returning from injury, new Australian defender Milan Susak and Brazilian striker Kaio Goncalves.

It follows the departures of Uruguayan and Brazilian strikers Emiliano Alfaro and Jussie Vieira, Iraqi defender Ahmad Ebrahim and Cameroonian midfielder Achille Emana.

Al Wasl spokesman Tareq Abdullah told Gulf News: “Everyone is happy that we have wrapped up our transfers with such a quality addition.”

Jorge Da Silva’s Bani Yas will now need to find a replacement to Senghor to complement the new signings of Omani defender Abdul Salam Al Mukhaini, Chilean striker Carlos Munoz and Argentinian midfielder Luis Farina. Uruguayan striker Gonzalo Bueno of Nacional was believed to have been a target until he joined Russia’s Kuban Krosnodar this week.

Bani Yas spokesman Khalid Al Junaibi confirmed: “We are currently looking at three South American options to replace Senghor.”

Senghor’s departure signals a complete overhaul at the club with Swedish midfielder Christian Wilhelmsson, Egyptian striker Mohammad Aboutrika and Australian defender Nicky Carle all out.
