Dubai: AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf told Gulf News yesterday that any club departures in the January transfer window "wouldn't really be a loss".

Speaking in a meeting to promote adiPure football boots, having already held a meet-and-greet session with ten lucky Adidas customers while AC Milan is in Dubai on winter-camp, Seedorf's comments were particularly relevant given Ronaldinho's questionable future at the club.

Seedorf said: "If somebody goes it's most probably not really a loss otherwise you wouldn't really go I'd imagine — it doesn't make sense otherwise."

Of winter player transfers affecting the unity of the team mid-campaign Seedorf added: "It happens, but it's not happening at the moment, so I don't think it's going to be an issue, because when a player goes there's a reason for it — I don't think we have those reasons."

With AC Milan currently top of Serie A and qualified to the second round of the Champions League Seedorf said: "Hopefully we can improve our game to maintain good results, because in the end results help maintain morale and conviction — in Italy there's not one [champion] until there's one, it's all quite short at the moment, unlike the last two years where Inter built up a difference fast, this year its close."

Waiting game

Of Tottenham Hostpur, Milan's next opponent in the Champions League Seedorf added: "... Today you can be in great shape but by February it can be the opposite — that's why we need to focus on our form and position in the league to help us go into this match stronger."

Asked if he's eyeing one more Champions League win before retirement, to add to his record four wins with three different clubs, the 34 year old was dismissive. "Every year I want the fifth, but if I get that I'll want a sixth — until I play I want to win. The moment that's not there any more maybe I should think about retiring."
