Dubai: Jack Wilshere would never want to go anywhere else, according to Arsenal teammate Hector Bellerin.

The injury-prone English midfielder’s Gunners contract expires this summer, but Bellerin hopes the 26-year-old will stay at the Emirates Stadium.

“He’s a player that loves the club,” said the 23-year-old Spaniard during a visit to an Arsenal Soccer School at Dubai’s Sevens Stadium on Friday.

“He’s been there since he was really young and I’ve been playing with him a long time, so I know how much it means to him to represent the team and I know he would never like to go anywhere else.

“Hopefully things can get better for him in terms of his contract. I don’t know how that’s going, I just know what I’ve seen on the news, but he’s a player Arsenal needs and he needs Arsenal as well.”

Fellow Arsenal defender Calum Chambers said everyone at the club would agree: “Wilshere’s a top player and a good mate of mine, so he’s good to have around the dressing room and great to have on the pitch. Obviously I want him to stay as a player and a mate, and everyone will say the same.”

Rob Holding, who also plays in defence, added: “He’s a top talent, we’ve seen glimpses of his top stuff this year and I just think a player like him is a massive part of the club.

“Whatever is happening with him and whatever he’s dealing with is down to him, but as players we all enjoy having him in the changing room and on the pitch. He’s a top player to have around with you.”
