Madrid: Manchester City’s unsettled Spanish forward Nolito says he is on the verge of quitting the club after a year.

The former Celta Vigo player’s spell at the Etihad Stadium got off to a positive start as City won their first 10 games of the season with Nolito one of their standout performers. But as the season progressed, City’s performances dropped off and so did his.

“I want to leave, I have learnt very little English; it’s really difficult, all I learnt was ‘tomorrow, good morning, good afternoon’ and very little else. Meanwhile, my daughter has come home with a really bad colour to her face and it looks as if she has been living in a cave,” he told Spanish radio show ‘El Transistor’ on Wednesday in reference to Manchester’s cloudy climate.

As the 30-year-old ended up out of the team he also lost his place in the Spanish national squad.

Although Nolito said he didn’t blame manager Pep Guardiola for his problems, he admitted that he didn’t think “City are counting on me, given the small amount I have played since January”.

“I have a contract and City are in charge, but I would like to leave,” admitted the forward, who was photographed on Tuesday speaking with Sevilla’s Director of Sport, Oscar Arias.

“I was in Sevilla by chance to buy some clothes for my wife. I was having a coffee and I bumped into him by chance ... later I also met the Sevilla President, but fortunately there were no photographers there,” explained Nolito.
