Swansea: Pep Guardiola warned Manchester City’s rivals that their historic 15th successive Premier League victory proved they won’t let complacency ruin their title bid.

Guardiola’s side crushed struggling Swansea 4-0 at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday to set a new record winning streak in the Premier League.

Just four days after their emotional 2-1 win at Manchester United — an explosive derby that reportedly ended with a brawl involving players and coaches from both teams in the dressing room area — City showed they can keep their intensity levels high against lesser opponents.

City boss Guardiola was impressed with the way his players coped with a demanding week to maintain their 11-point lead over United and he believes that laser focus will stand them in good stead as the title draws nearer.

“Considering we have a lot of games in our legs, a demanding game at Old Trafford three days ago, we were solid, we were serious and we made a good performance,” Guardiola said.

“That [complacency] is not going to happen. We are so demanding for our players. We can lose, we can drop points but complacency, never happened in the past, the present or the future.”

Guardiola saluted City for breaking new ground with a win that surpassed the record Arsenal set in 2002 and the Spaniard admitted his club are in a great moment.

“Winning 15 games in a row gives us a lot of confidence. If people are happy watching us, that is the best gift,” he said.

“You suffer and enjoy, like a manager, you see many things. When the team play good, we are happy.

“Our feeling — we understand what we want to do. We play good inside, outside.”

Bottom of the table Swansea had no answer to City’s class and their manager Paul Clement admitted the leaders were unstoppable.

“For me, one of the best sides I’ve ever come across. So many good athletes, so many intelligent footballers and it’s really hard to pin them down,” he said.

Manchester United bounced back from their derby defeat by beating Bournemouth 1-0, while slip-ups for Liverpool and Arsenal allowed Tottenham Hotspur to steal into fourth place by beating Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0.

Romelu Lukaku scored the game’s only goal as United got back to winning ways against Bournemouth.

The Belgian striker, who is alleged to have been heavily involved in the derby dust-up, headed in Juan Mata’s 25th-minute cross and pointedly failed to celebrate.

Anthony Martial fired over an open goal in the second half after Asmir Begovic foiled Lukaku and United substitute Marcus Rashford rattled the bar, but Lukaku’s goal was enough for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Tottenham jumped from seventh place to fourth courtesy of their 2-0 win over Brighton at Wembley, which arrived courtesy of an overhit Serge Aurier cross and Son Heung-min’s fourth goal in four games.

Liverpool are fifth, on goal difference, after a 0-0 draw at home to West Bromwich Albion.

Jurgen Klopp recalled Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino from Sunday’s 1-1 derby draw with Everton and thought Dominic Solanke had poached a late winner, only for the goal to be ruled out for handball.

West Brom have now gone a club-record 16 games without a win in all competitions, but the point took Alan Pardew’s side out of the relegation zone.

Arsenal dropped to seventh, a point below sixth-place Burnley, after a goalless draw at David Moyes’ improving West Ham United.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, who hit the post through Alex Iwobi in the first half, have now gone three league games without victory.
