Manchester: Brazil midfielder Fernandinho has signed a two-year contract extension with Manchester City, two days after the Premier League leaders tied Argentina defender Nicolas Otamendi to a new deal.

City say the 32-year-old Fernandinho’s new contract runs through 2020. He joined the club from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013.

Otamendi signed a two-year extension on Wednesday that keeps him at City until 2022.

Fernandinho, who has won a Premier League title and two League Cups since being at City, has provided the steel in midfield, which has had coach Pep Guardiola purring that if every side had “three Fernandinho’s they would be champions.”
