Manchester: Claudio Bravo’s debut for Manchester City is set to come in the most high-profile match of the Premier League season: The Manchester derby.

City manager Pep Guardiola said the Chile goalkeeper, who completed his move from Barcelona for 13.75 million pounds (Dh66.8 million) on Thursday, will not play against West Ham in the league on Sunday.

City’s next match is against United on September 10, after the upcoming two-week break for international games.

But that wouldn’t concern Guardiola, who said the 33-year-old Bravo would be a valuable member of City’s team because of his high-level experience with Barca and Copa America champion Chile, and his ability to start attacks from the back.

Joe Hart’s 10-year career at City is likely to end following Bravo’s arrival, and Guardiola said on Friday the club would help the England goalkeeper secure a move away in this transfer window.
