The UAE coach is confident his team's experience at the recent Mundialito 2009 is the ideal springboard for notching greater achievements at this year's Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup. "I think the Mundialito taught us a lot of things.
It was like a reality check for all the players and we still have more than two months to continue learning our lessons from this experience," said UAE coach Marcelo Mendes.
The Mundialito is an annual beach soccer competition attracting the four best teams in the world. Portugal was crowned champion in Portimao last month at the cost of world champions, Brazil and European champions, Spain. The UAE ended at the bottom, but Mendes insisted that it was worth the experience.
"The experience of playing against top teams like Spain, Brazil and Portugal was very important for us. We now have enough time to work out on our weak points and face other top sides of the world," he said.
