London: Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino has admitted a return to former club Paris Saint-Germain as manager “is part of my dreams”.

The former Argentina international, 44, spent two years in the French capital between 2001 and 2003, making more than 70 appearances.

Pochettino has since taken Tottenham to second place in the Premier League, having began his managerial career at Spanish club Espanyol in 2009 before moving to Southampton in 2012. However, with question marks about current PSG coach Laurent Blanc’s future after their Champions League quarter-final exit, he has admitted a move to Ligue 1 could be tempting.

“I’ve always said that I would be pleased to join a great club like PSG,” Pochettino, has three years remaining on his Tottenham contract, told French radio station RMC.

“Come to Paris? I hope so. It is true that it would please me. It’s part of my dreams. I try to watch all their matches, especially in the Champions League.

“The [French] championship is not very attractive because PSG is far from the other teams but I look a lot because it is a major source of players. There is talent so I have to follow Ligue 1.”

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi, who has scored 15 goals for Marseille in Ligue 1 so far this season. The 22-year-old is also wanted by West Ham and Crystal Palace but Pochettino confirmed Spurs will also be in the market for him,

“We are looking for a striker this summer, that’s clear,” he said. “Michy’s a young player who has a lot of talent. He is on the list of many clubs.

“We have quite a few people who have given us information about him. He has good potential. We’ll see. We have other players in our sights too.”

Tottenham travel to Chelsea in the next match on Monday night after Leicester have the chance to seal the title against Manchester United on Sunday. Pochettino admitted Claudio Ranieri’s side would be deserved winners.

“They deserve to be first,” he said. “It attracts outside attention to see that a Leicester team is about to become champions of England. It shows that English football is the most competitive in the world. There are three matches, we’ll try to do everything to come back, even if it is very complicated for us. It’s great for the coach Claudio Ranieri.”
