Abu Dhabi: It was a brilliant back flick assist from Al Jazira’s ace forward Ali Mabkhout that allowed Brazilian Romarinho to score the solitary goal in his team’s 1-0 win against Auckland City.

Mabkhout credited the success to the spirit shown by the youngsters in the team. “The youth performed quite well and that was great. It turned out to be a good game. This performance is going to help us in the next match of the tournament,” he said.

“Such wins give lot of confidence to the team and the momentum will be there to carry forward. We will be all the more focused for the next match.”

Mabkhout brushed aside the suggestion that his team were in awe of their opponents in the second half and were just lucky to survive.

“It is not that we were frightened or something in the second half. I would just like to say we will look to improve on this performance. We would focus more on our practice and will try to deliver better.”
