Dubai: The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) will delve on the highly relevant topic of modern investment in football at its 12th Dubai International Sports Conference at the end of the year.

The Organising Committee of the Conference met under the chairmanship of Mohammad Al Kamali, Board member of DSC, in the presence of Saeed Hareb, General Secretary, DSC, to discuss preparations for the event that is scheduled to be held at the Madinat Jumeirah on December 27-28.

One of the important events under the Mohammad Bin Rashid Global Initiatives, the annual conference is held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of DSC, to further cement Dubai on the international sports tourism map.

Over the years, organisers DSC have encouraged football associations and clubs from neighbouring countries and the Arab world to actively participate in the conference.

The Dubai International Sports Conference brings together some of the greatest footballing players, coaches, officials and administrators for a two-day debate on the changing atmosphere of the sport globally. Last year’s event saw Egypt and Liverpool star Mohammad Salah join incoming Fifa President Gianni Infantino among the list of guest speakers. Also present were former Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o, Inter Milan legend Javier Zanetti, ex-England manager Fabio Capello, Portugal’s Euro 2016 winning coach Fernando Santos and refereeing great Pierluigi Collina, among others.

One of the crucial elements of the annual event is the hosting of the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards presented by Bendoni Consulting. Two of the greatest modern-day footballers, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have already won the best player award in Dubai in the past two editions.

“Our aim is to ensure we keep pace with the developments being made in the world of football,” Al Kamali said after the meeting.

“We have always ensured we have relevant topics up for discussion during the sessions on both days of the event, and we also make sure we get the best players and officials to attend so that the focus of the sporting world remains on Dubai,” he added.

Anas Bukhash, DSC board member and Vice-Chairman of the Organising Committee also attended the meeting along with members Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Ali Omar, Hessa Al Kuss, Hamda Al Abbar, Dr. Nagi Esmail, Sami Abdul Al Imam and Rashid Mohammad.
