Glasgow: Scottish Premiership champions Celtic tightened their grip on retaining the title with a comfortable 2-0 win over Dundee at Dens Park on Tuesday.

Winger James Forrest opened the scoring after eight minutes when he completed a fine passing move and tapped home for his 12th goal of the season.

It was 2-0 just before the break when Celtic captain Scott Brown won possession from Faissal El Bakhtaoui. His pass released Olivier Ntcham and the Frenchman found Leigh Griffiths, who made no mistake in front of goal.

The struggling home side frustrated the visitors after the interval with some deep and solid defending, but the loss leaves them just above the relegation zone and Celtic ensured they picked up the win and stretched their lead in the Premiership table to 11 points, with closest challengers Aberdeen playing today against Partick Thistle.

The victory also served as a perfect warm-up for Brendan Rodgers’ side as they face old enemies Rangers on December 30.
