Glasgow: Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has signed a new four-year contract with the club which will run until June 2021, the Scottish Premiership champions announced on Friday.

Former Liverpool boss Rodgers has already led Celtic to the title — their sixth in a row — and the League Cup this season.

He was appointed by Celtic on a 12-month rolling contract last May and is unbeaten after 38 domestic games, with a Scottish Cup semi-final to come later this month against rivals Rangers.

The Northern Irishman also guided the Glasgow giants into the group stages of the Champions League.

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell said: “Brendan has made a huge impact at Celtic already. He’s an outstanding manager and we believe he is one of the best coaches in Europe, if not world football, and we’re delighted that he has committed his future to Celtic.”
