Barcelona: Neymar will not be leaving Barcelona despite reports that Paris St-Germain have triggered his £195m release clause, club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has told BBC Sport.

The Brazilian himself has also played down the claims.

The forward signed a new five-year contract until 2021 in October, with his release clause set to rise with each year of the deal.

Neymar is reportedly unsettled at the Nou Camp and multiple reports have suggested a move to Paris is on the cards.

But speaking to Goal, Neymar insisted the stories are false and he plans to stay at Barcelona for the foreseeable future.

“I am very adapted to the city, the club and I am happy here,” he is quoted as saying.

“The last one was my best season in Barcelona. It was the season where I felt most comfortable.

“We played great games and lived incredible moments – even though we didn’t win the titles we wanted.

“Now, we need to work for the new season and it will be even more positive, individually and as a group.”

Neymar, 25, joined from Santos in 2013.

He scored 13 goals as Barcelona came second, three points behind La Liga champions Real Madrid, last season.

Neymar won a third Copa del Rey with the Catalan club last season, adding to two La Liga titles and a Champions League.

The current world record transfer for a player is the £89m Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba last summer.
