Abu Dhabi: A 10-man Al Nasr were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly placed Al Dhafra in round 15 of the Arabian Gulf League on Friday at the Al Maktoum Stadium. Al Nasr, who were reduced to 10-men following two bookings for Amer Mubarak, had taken the lead through a Jires Kembo-Ekoko penalty, but Makhete Diop headed a late equaliser to earn a point for the visitors. Al Nasr stay in third spot with 29 points, while Al Dhafra remain in the bottom two despite moving on to 13 points.

In another encounter, Dibba rallied from a goal down to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Bani Yas. Joaquin Larrivey put Bani Yas in the lead but Bakary Kone saved the day for Dibba.

Meanwhile, Al Wahda FC’s new Korean signing Rim Chang-woo has completed all the formalities and will be taking the field against Al Shabab away in the Arabian Gulf League on Saturday. The club, on the eve of the encounter, unveiled the defender, who will wear jersey No 23. Rim comes in place of Kuwaiti international Hussain Fadel, whom the club has given the choice to stay until the end of his contract or is free to move immediately. Rim, who switched loyalties from Ulsan Hyundai FC, has signed for two-and-a-half years and has been preferred by coach Javier Aguirre as he can fit in two positions - at right-back and centre-back.

“I have learned after searching the internet that Wahda has set high standards and has the ambitions to win trophies,” said Rim, adding that he was quite happy with what he has experienced so far.

“I have been received very warmly here and it is a new world for me. Al Wahda has an exciting squad with a good mix of experience and youth under a great manager in Aguirre. I have been following Aguirre’s work with the Japan national team. I hope my experience will be of great use to my teammates,” revealed the 23-year-old, who was of the view that he is not yet at 100 per cent fitness as he has been enjoying a winter break in the Korean League.

“In Korea, it is like vacation as the league is not on at the moment. I’m not quite ready but I can play top quality football,” said Rim, whose previous visit to Abu Dhabi was with the Korean U-17 national team for a friendly.

Rim said that he has been hearing good things about the capital and has managed to gain more information from Al Jazira’s Korean medfielder Park Jong-woo.

“I didn’t speak to anyone before coming here. All I wanted to do was to come out and play outside the country for a while now. So when this offer came it was an immediate yes,” Rim added.
