The great Diego Maradona admitted he feels "honoured" to be on the UAE Football Association's (UAE FA) radar to take over the national squad.
Maradona has had his name appearing as one of the strong contenders to take over the UAE national squad, following the sacking of Slovenian Srecko Katanec earlier this year.
"But let me clarify that there has been no contact from anyone whatsoever, either from the UAE FA or any other individual regarding the job," Maradona said.
"But I am honoured to be on the list of candidates," he added. "If there is an interest and someone wants to contact then everyone knows where I live and they can easily contact me whenever they feel like."
But for the moment, the legendary Argentine is totally focused on Al Wasl's next match — their first-leg semi-final against Qatar's Al Khor in the Gulf Clubs Championship.
"Right now, I am only thinking about Al Wasl's next match and we will do anything to win it and give ourselves a chance for a trophy this season," Maradona said.
