Swansea, United Kingdom: Leicester manager Nigel Pearson got the goal posts at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium measured on Saturday and admitted he wished they were smaller after his team lost 2-0.

Pearson said his goalkeepers had raised concerns over the size of the goals at the Welsh venue in the pre-match warm-up and a tape measure was even summoned to ensure they were within the rules.

“The goalkeepers felt they were a bit high,” Pearson said. “I thought it was in everyone’s best interest to get it checked and it was quite light-hearted.

“The officials were slightly surprised, but everything was fine. I could have done with it being a bit smaller.

“It is very easy to look at the goals and lay the blame for defeats but ultimately what you do with the ball when you have it is equally important, if not more.”

Wilfried Bony scored twice to end Swansea’s five-game winless run in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory. The Ivory Coast striker has endured a slow start to the season after appearing at the World Cup, but he now scored in three consecutive games.

Bony’s first came in the 34th minute after initially being picked out by Angel Rangel’s pass. Bony’s slick back-heel flick then freed Gylfi Sigurdsson, who cut the ball back for his teammate to strike into the net.

Bony had a straightforward finish in the 57th after Jefferson Montero and Sigurdsson interchanged cleverly.

While Swansea climbed to sixth place, Leicester is 16th, having collected one point from four games since beating Manchester United.
