Kuwait footballers maintain fine run

Kuwait maintained their leadership in the 4th GCC Football Championship for the Hearing Impaired after thrashing Saudi Arabia 9-3 on the second day of the tournament at Al Jazira indoor stadium.

Abu Dhabi: Kuwait maintained their leadership in the 4th GCC Football Championship for the Hearing Impaired after thrashing Saudi Arabia 9-3 on the second day of the tournament at Al Jazira indoor stadium.

Hosts the UAE are closely behind with the same tally of points, 6, after beating Oman 2-1 in a closely contested game.

The event is organised by the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care, Special Needs and Minors Affairs.

Bahrain, meanwhile, jumped to third place, following their 11-1 victory over Qatar to collect 3 points.

Bahrain now have the same tally of points as that of Saudi Arabia, though the former have a better goal difference.

Waleed Ridhwan and Esmail Al Hammadi scored for the UAE.

Today, the leadership of the tournament will be decided when the hosts play against Kuwait. The winners of today's game will make significant strides towards winning the title.
