Abu Dhabi: Former AFC Champions League winners Al Ain have roped in Khalifa Port as official sponsors during their campaign in the AFC Champions League — the continent’s premier club competition — this year.
The deal will mean the defending UAE Pro-League champions will sport the logo of the Abu Dhabi Ports Company, represented by Khalifa Port.
Shaikh Abdullah Bin Mohammad Bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Al Ain Football Club Chairman, said the deal was only for Al Ain’s AFC Champions League matches, starting with Wednesday’s game at home to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi on Sunday and was attended by Dr. Sultan Ahmad Al Jaber, Abu Dhabi Ports Company Chairman, Hamad Bin Nukhirat Al Ameri, Al Ain Football Club board member, Mohammad Abdullah Bin Bdoua, Al Ain Football Club board member and Mohammad Juma Al Shamisi, Abu Dhabi Ports Company Deputy CEO.
Shaikh Abdullah said: “We are always committed to show the best to honour UAE football in the AFC Champions League. We also will double our efforts for the best results this year.”
The Abu Dhabi Ports Company Chairman added: “We are very happy for this cooperation with Al Ain Sports and Cultural Club, which reflects the company’s keenness to participate in all efforts aimed at enhancing the name and the position of the UAE regionally and internationally. Through this sponsorship we attempt to shed the light on the vital role Khalifa Port plays in the UAE and beyond.
“This cooperation comes in accordance with our wise leader’s vision for supporting establishments and agencies to create new partnerships with the sports industry aimed at achieving higher sporting accomplishments and pursuing comprehensive development in the UAE.”
