Ivory Coast's Keita joins Al Ain club

Midfielder played big role at Al Qadisiya

Abu Dhabi : Al Ain club has signed a one-and-half year contract with midfielder Ebrahim Keita of Ivory Coast to join their team in the new season of the UAE Pro-league (UFL).

Keita, 25, who was born in Abidjan, started his career with French Club Sportif Louhans Cuiseaux in 1999 before moving to Academie Cyril Domoraud in 2002. Al Fahaheel of Kuwait took him on in 2003 before be moved to Al Qadisiya in 2005.

He played a big role in leading Al Qadisiya to domestic league honours in Kuwait for the past two consecutive seasons and he won the Gulf Clubs Cup with the side in 2005 with victory over Al Wasl.

Keita will join Argentine striker Jose Sand and the club is still looking for a third foreign professional after a knee injury looks to keep Moroccan Sufian Al Aloudi out for the majority of the season.

Al Ain has released their Chilean midfielder Jorge Valdivia to Palmeiras in Brazil while Emerson, their Brazilian striker last season, has returned back home.

Keita, born in 1985, has passed the necessary medical checkups and the player and the club did not disclose the amount of the deal.
