Abu Dhabi: The Fifa Under-17 World Cup Fan Zone on the Abu Dhabi Corniche has attracted close to 80,000 visitors since it opened its doors to the public on October 17, when the largest ever football event organised in the UAE kicked off.

The Fan Zone offers supporters the opportunity to join in with the UAE’s World Cup celebrations.

Tournament Director Mohammad Bin Bdoua was delighted with the success of the fan engagement area. He said: “We are all very pleased to see the joy that the Fan Zone has brought to Abu Dhabi’s beach and the country’s football fans these past two weeks. We’ve still got almost a week left and I would urge everyone to make their way down and get a true taste of the Fifa U-17 World Cup festivities.”

The Fan Zone offers live screenings of World Cup matches, a mini football pitch and several football-based activities, as well as the chance to grab complimentary match tickets for the remaining games.

Fifa partner Kia and national supporters First Gulf Bank, TCA Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Airports Company have all been giving away daily prizes at the Fan Zone.

“Through the Fan Zone we wanted to bring together football communities from across the UAE to join us in celebrating this unforgettable football festival. We hope we’ll see thousands more fans and families there enjoying themselves as we enter the final days of the tournament,” Bin Bdoua said.

The Fan Zone is open every day until after the final on November 8. Opening hours are 4pm to 11pm from Saturday to Wednesday and 4pm to midnight on Thursdays and Fridays.
