Dubai Sports Council okays deal with UAE association
The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) Executive Bureau (EB) chaired by vice-president Mattar Mohammad Al Tayer has decided in its last meeting to approve the agreement between the DSC and the UAE football association concerning the beach soccer in the UAE.
Dubai: The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) Executive Bureau (EB) chaired by vice-president Mattar Mohammad Al Tayer has decided in its last meeting to approve the agreement between the DSC and the UAE football association concerning the beach soccer in the UAE.
The agreement stipulated that the DSC will be responsible for the beach soccer, organise tournaments between local clubs and hosting tournaments and taking part in the regional, continental and international championships in the UAE or outside.
The EB approved a report on the local beach soccer tournament held last month with the participation of eight teams as an introductory tournament so as to organise regular events among the UAE clubs.
The EB was informed about the preparations made by the DSC to host the beach soccer World Cup finals and the Confederations Cup to be held in Dubai next year. Dubai will be the first Arab and Middle East city to host the World Cup.
The EB decided to name the DSC and EB member Salah Tahlak as manager for both tournaments. Tahlak will submit to the EB in its coming meeting his work plan for hosting the World Cup and Confederations Cup.
The EB discussed the visit of the international swimming federation delegation led by the executive manager to Dubai where he watched the preparations by the DSC to host the world swimming championships (25m) which will be held in Dubai 2010.
The EB assured its previous decisions to make all the Dubai clubs senior team players a full time footballers and not to be busy with any other jobs.
The EB decided to continue visits to the Dubai clubs to discuss with their board of directors the problems which they are facing.
