Dubai: Dubai Sports City on Tuesday launched its Spanish Soccer School under Michel Salgado, its director of football. The former Real Madrid and Spain defender who won two Uefa Champions Leagues and four Spanish La Liga titles as well as 53 caps for his country has assembled a team of experienced coaches for the programme.

The mission of the coaching team is to teach youngsters to play in the fluid quick-passing style of Spain, the current holders of the Fifa World Cup and two successive Uefa European Championships in 2008 and 2012.

The first term of the Spanish Soccer Schools starts on September 15 and it is now open for registrations. Enquiries about registrations for the first term may be made by calling +971 4 448 1555, emailing football@dxbsport.com or visiting the website www.spanishsoccerschool.com

The DSC SSS will offer youngsters the chance to attend one, two or three sessions per week over one, two or three terms.

Sessions will be short, sharp and skills-based and, in addition to teaching the children skills through training, there will also be plenty of opportunity for match action — in leagues and through tournaments. There will also be the chance for children to travel overseas to broaden their football and life experience.
