Dubai: The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) has rewarded Al Shabab’s entry into the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League with a bonus of Dh 2 million.

“This amount has been sanctioned to Al Shabab due to their fantastic campaign in the ongoing AFC Champions League which saw them become the only club from the UAE to advance to the knockout stages of such a prestigious competition,” Dr. Ahmad Sa’ad Al Sharif, General Secretary, DSC told Gulf News.

The DSC has also requested the supporters and fans from other Dubai clubs to turn out in large numbers and support Al Shabab’s campaign in the Round 16 of the Asian competition.

Leaders of the various fans and supporters clubs in Dubai were called for a meeting on Tuesday at the DSC and urged to back Al Shabab.

Al Shabab beat Pakhtakor of Uzbekistan last week to total nine points and finish two points behind group leaders Lekhwiya of Qatar.
