The top official from Al Ahli is not averse to his talisman player plying his trade in one of the European leagues.
Ahmad Khalifa Hamad, CEO, Al Ahli Club said the best striker in Asia, Ahmad Khalil, deserves to have a chance of playing on the bigger stage.
“He is the best Asia has at the moment. So if there is one player who deserves a chance to go and play in one of the top leagues in Europe, it is Ahmad Khalil,” Hamad told Gulf News.
“This is the right time in his career and I think that this is his right as the best player on the continent,” he added.
The official, however, refrained from admitting that the club would look out for opportunities to see Khalil ply his trade with one of the top European clubs. “In the past we have heard so much about some other players wanting to play in Europe. But so far this has been mere talk. But in the case of Ahmad Khalil this can be a reality, simply because he is the best at the moment,” Hamad said.
“We are aware that he is being observed by some people from top clubs. He is in the focus right now as everyone will be looking at him and what he can do. Al Ahli will have high expectations from him from now on. If at all there is an opportunity for Ahmad Khalil to play abroad then it will be now when the full focus is on him,” he added.
