Abu Dhabi: UAE's head coach Bruno Metsu and Radan, his Kuwaiti counterpart, agreed that their teams will play for victory only when they lock horns tonight in the Asian qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup at Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium here.
Victory tonight will ease the pressures upon both coaches as Metsu is looking for an end to his team's goal-drought and Radan is under fire for excluding some good players from his line up.
"My team is capable of achieving victory - all they need is to concentrate more," Metsu said.
"The players are highly motivated about chasing a dream of playing in the finals of the World Cup. I do hope that their fans will come to support them so they can show their best."
"I am not worried about the media in Kuwait saying that the match being my last chance with the team," Radan said.
Best prepared
"My contract ends on June and I have selected the best prepared players for the squad who can produce the goods."
Radan confirmed that both teams will play for full points — irrespective of this being a home or away match. "There is no coach who asks his players to play for a draw."
Radan disclosed that he had watched the UAE versus Iraq friendly match on January 31. "The UAE is a good team but so are we."
