Berlin: German football giants Bayern Munich and Arjen Robben have agreed on a contract extension until June 2017, the Bundesliga team announced.

Dutchman Robben extended his current deal, until 2015, by putting pen to paper on a two-year extension on Wednesday, reports Xinhua.

“I am very pleased that my contract is signed so that I can continue my hunt for titles with Bayern. It is my fifth year in Munich and three years are still ahead of me. I am looking forward to the coming years and many titles with Bayern,” the midfielder told the clubs website.

The Dutch international joined the Bavarians from Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2009 to score 55 goals in 98 appearances.

“We are very delighted that Arjen extended his contract until 2017. He is a great footballer, which he has not only proven in the UEFA Champions League final 2013 in Wembley. He is a key player of our team and will remain so for the next years,” Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.

Since wearing Bayern’s jersey, Robben won two German Bundesliga titles, two German Cups (DFB Pokal) and one UEFA Champions League trophy.

Bayern Munich rules the Bundesliga standings as the Bavarians have a 23-point gap to second placed Borussia Dortmund.
