Abu Dhabi: Al Shaab were relegated from the Arabian Gulf League to the amateur division on Thursday night after two seasons after they were trounced 5-0 by Al Ain.

In the day’s other early match, Emirates beat Al Jazira 3-2.

Al Shaab have only 11 points with only three matches remaining, while the relegated spot to the amateur division will be fought between Dubai, who have 14 points, Emirates and Al Wasl, who have 21 each, and Ajman, who have 22.

Asamoah Gyan scored a hat-trick, while Mohammad Abdul Rahman and Rayyan Yaslam added one goal apiece for Al Ain at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.

In Ras Al Khaimah, Walter Zenga, the head coach of Al Jazira, made seven changes to the line-up that lost last week to Al Ahli.

He did not use any foreign players as he will face Al Rayyan from Qatar in a crucial match in the AFC Champions League on Wednesday, April 16.

Al Jazira took the lead in the 21st minute from a free-kick by Sultan Bargash but defender Khalid Mohammad levelled the scores for the home team in the 35th minute following a pass from Luiz Enrique.

Jamal Ebrahim added the second goal for Emirates in the 58th minute following a bad mistake from Khalid Al Sinani, the visitors’ goalkeeper, which forced Zenga to use some of his first-choice players.

He brought on Abdul Aziz Barrada and Ali Mabkhoot to replace Ahmad Al Attas and Subai Khater, but the home team went further ahead when Enrique scored the fourth goal after Ebrahim sent him clear with a beautiful penetrating pass in the 69th minute.

One minute later, referee Yagoob Al Hammadi awarded Al Jazira a penalty, which Barrada converted.
